Project Description
This project is a transformative reimagining of an existing home in need of a significant update. Designed as a functional and welcoming getaway for an extended family, the home serves as a place of celebration and connection. Spanning over 6,000 square feet with six bedrooms, the focus was on redefining the sense of place and enhancing spaces for gathering and relaxation.
At the heart of the redesign is a bold proposal for a dramatically expanded and updated kitchen, a butler’s pantry, and a spacious living room. These areas seamlessly connect to the massive deck, a sprawling five-acre yard, and the stunning sights and scents of the nearby Puget Sound through newly installed oversized doors. When not being enjoyed by the family, the home doubles as a rentable Airbnb, offering an inviting retreat for guests.
Our clients challenged us to create a budget-conscious yet memorable project that balances functionality, aesthetics, and the potential to host unforgettable moments. Beyond the communal spaces, we reconfigured bedrooms, added en-suite bathrooms, and thoughtfully integrated amenities to ensure luxurious and flexible living.
In addition to architectural updates, we collaborated with the owners to style and furnish the home with a modern, welcoming aesthetic that prioritizes comfort and sophistication. The result is a harmonious blend of practicality and elegance, offering a space where lasting memories are made.
The finishes and furnishings were thoughtfully curated with a modern sensibility, creating a cohesive and harmonious design throughout the home. Our holistic approach ensured that every element ties seamlessly to the house’s surroundings, drawing inspiration from the beaches, forests, and waters of the Pacific Northwest.
The chosen colors, textures, and materials echo the natural beauty of the nearby shore. Wood tones evoke the essence of driftwood and tree-lined coasts, while the palette reflects the hues of the Puget Sound on a sunny day. Shades of pebble grey and black, reminiscent of a rocky beach shaped by the ebb and flow of tides, are complemented by accents of white and colored stones, bringing subtle sparkle and depth to the design.
These natural inspirations are carried through in the hard surfaces, furnishings, and decor, creating a space that feels both grounded in its environment and elevated in its modern aesthetic.
